Teenage orthodontics (13-18 years)

Treatment of teenagers is the most common type of orthodontics done. It corrects a range of different problems including:

	Crowded and crooked teeth
	Spaced teeth
	Protruding top (“buck”) teeth
	Deep bites (where the top front teeth cover more than 1/3 of the bottom front teeth)
	Cross bites and reverse bites (where the top & bottom teeth bite on the wrong side of each other)

Treatment can also include the extraction of teeth to make space.

Usually a fixed-on brace is used (see the picture gallery for the different types of fixed braces), sometimes in conjunction with a plastic, removable brace.

Sometimes a plastic, removable brace is all that is required.
