Interceptive orthodontics (8-12 years)
This is treatment carried out at an
early age to prevent later complications or decrease the severity of later
problems. It is recommended that
children have an orthodontic examination at the age of 7-10 to help to
determine whether they may require braces in the future.
As children are still growing at that age, some problems are much easier
to treat at this stage, as the jaw structure is easier to mould. Treatment includes:
Treatment sometimes requires a removable brace. These can be from clear, to the most colourful, to glittery to make them more fun. They can also have special pictures placed in them. An early consultation is recommended for the following patients:
