Crowding occurs because of a disharmony between tooth-size and jaw size. Crowded teeth can look unattractive and can be difficult to clean. Orthodontic treatment usually involves using braces to straighten the teeth. It may sometimes be necessary to extract teeth to provide sufficient space to allow the teeth to be lined up in a stable position.
